Update to the G7 Protest site in Plymouth
Central Park has replaced The Hoe
3 June 2021
Following concerns raised about the identified protest site in Plymouth for the G7 Summit, partner agencies have reviewed the information and identified an alternative site at Central Park; Plymouth Hoe will no longer be used.
In order to facilitate peaceful and lawful protest at the G7 Summit, police and local councils have been working together to identify dedicated sites across the force area for the G7 Summit, where people can go to express their views.
These sites are:
- Truro – Boscawen Park.
- Falmouth – Church Street car park and The Hornworks. A site on the water has also been identified at Falmouth.
- Plymouth – Central Park.
- Exeter – Flowerpots Playing Fields.
Councillor Nick Kelly, Leader of Plymouth City Council, said: "I'm really pleased that following feedback from residents and the Plymouth Waterfront Partnership, the proposed protest site has been moved to a more suitable location.
“Using our event space at Central Park will be far less likely to be disruptive to local businesses and visitors to the Hoe and we thank Devon and Cornwall Police for helping us in this matter.”
